Indigo & Kind founder Teji Lingam was born and raised in India where she fell in love with the exquisite intricacy of handcrafted arts. From a young age, she has been fascinated with textiles and design. While traveling the country, she has extensively researched the art of hand block printing by visiting a multitude of unique workshops and closely working with the local craftspeople. The techniques, the people she met and the personal dedication they showed to the raw material inspired her to create and bring textiles to life. Though she now lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, she has brought inspiration from back home and culture with her.
For Indigo & Kind, creating textiles is an intimate process. Our mission is to create pieces that are both comfortable and durable while also considering the social impact. We are highly intentional when choosing the location, craftspeople, and producing fair trade. Completely opposed to an industrial approach, we guide the textiles as if they have their own soul.
Indigo & Kind empowers communities by paying ethical wages for those who are involved in our process. Our goal is to promote reasonable education, health, and lifestyle that are vital to the community’s well being.
